Michael Rohschürmann
Dr. Michael Rohschürmann is a political scientist and scholar of Islamic history with extensive professional experience in fragile and conflict-affected countries, particularly in Afghanistan and Iraq. His academic and practical work is focused around questions of security, leadership, religion, violence, cultural memory, and political order. A recurring focus of his research is how individuals and groups act under conditions of crisis, conflict, and ideological commitment, how narratives, values, and collective identities shape behaviour, and why political and military interventions so often fail because local actors and their motivations are insufficiently understood. Alongside his work in development cooperation, security, and crisis management, he has been active in teaching and research and has published on Afghanistan, jihadism, terrorism, military tradition, and broader security policy issues.
